LAMINATED PARQUET CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Every product you buy from TGS adds charm and beauty to every room where it is applied, but most of them need regular maintenance to maintain these quality and beautiful appearances.

General Information

Air Temperature and Relative Humidity in the Air:

Parquets are made from 100% natural wood, so significant moisture changes can affect your parquet. It is important to keep the relative humidity in the room as constant as possible. The recommended humidity is 40-60% RH. The recommended average temperature is 15-23°C.

General Maintenance and Damage Prevention

Trend Classification

Please ensure that the humidity and temperature are as mentioned above and take corrective measures if necessary.
Remove any sand or other abrasives immediately.
To prevent any permanent damage or stains, when liquid comes into contact with the floor, immediately treat it with a cloth or paper towel.
Protect the underside of the legs of all furniture with felt to prevent scratching from movement.
Move heavy furniture by lifting it instead of sliding it.
Be careful not to wear high heels on the floor as they can crush and scratch the floor. The nails of pets will scratch the floor. Take care to keep pets' nails short to minimize damage to the surface.

ATTENTION:

Before applying any other care product, be sure to test it on a hidden area of the floor to assess whether there is an adverse polish reaction (e.g. discolouration or peeling). The use of care products other than those intended for polished floors may result in discolouration of the floor, the formation of stains, changes in the slipperiness of the floor surface or changes in the gloss. TGS is not responsible for any negativities that may occur in such cases.

POLISHED FLOORS

In order to be satisfied with your polished parquet, it is important to care for the floor correctly, starting immediately after installation. With the right care, your parquet will maintain its clean, fresh and first-day appearance.

Dry Cleaning: Floors should be cleaned daily using dry cleaning methods such as vacuum, soft broom or mop. It is important to remove abrasive particles of sand and dirt that can scratch the surface under shoes, chair legs.

Wet Cleaning: If necessary, the floor can be wiped with a cleaning agent recommended by your manufacturer. Dip the mats in the bucket of the prepared cleaning solution, tighten them completely, mop them in the direction of the wooden moire and repeat. When the water becomes dirty, empty the bucket, prepare a new cleaning solution and continue mopping.

Mopping Technique: Always keep water to a minimum when cleaning your wooden floors. Water is the biggest enemy of wood, so use a damp mop rather than a soapy wet mop. Wipe off any spilled liquid immediately. Avoid any water or liquid, as the wood will absorb the liquid and expand enough to affect the stability of the floor. Prefer to use the cleaning product recommended by the manufacturer.

General Maintenance

Normal cleaning to clean the debris on the surface is carried out using a broom or vacuum cleaner.

To remove normal stains and dirt, polished floors should be cleaned with the appropriate cleaning spray.

Just spray the floor with the spray, wait a minute to work on the stubborn marks and only then mop.

Regular maintenance of polished floors hides minor wear and tear in daily use. The biggest enemies of wooden floors are water and sand. In case of floor contamination, these should be cleaned carefully and gently.

Under no circumstances should the wooden floor be covered with PE foil or other moisture and airtight materials.

The floor can be renewed by sanding and polishing. The number of times the wooden floor can be renewed depends on the depth of the damage on the surface to be cleaned.

Before starting mechanical renovation (sanding), analyse the condition of the floor and whether it is possible to carry out mechanical renovation.

OILED FLOORS

Oiled floors give you a magnificent, natural look. To ensure the lasting beauty of your oiled floor, it is necessary to take proper care of the floor, starting immediately after installation. With proper care, the oiled floor becomes easier to clean and harder to wear, because the soap makes the floor more resistant to dirt while protecting the floor with an invisible film.

General Cleaning

If the floor is dirty after application, we recommend cleaning the floor with mild soap water. After the first cleaning, you can vacuum the oiled floor regularly.

Day-to-day cleaning must be based on dry methods such as vacuuming or sweeping, the use of water and cleaning agents increases the need for further maintenance.

If a deeper cleaning is required (usually recommended about once a month), make sure to use a cleaner specifically made for oiled wooden floors.

Note: Always work with two buckets - one with soapy water and one with clean water for rinsing the dirty cloth or mop.

Important

Always wipe the floor with soap on a cloth or mat.

Do not use cleaners or care products on your oiled wood floor, especially those that are not suitable for oiled wood floors. This especially means products containing waxes, ammonia, vinegar, detergents or bleach. Cleaners for oily wood floors and aluminum oxide wood floors are different.

WHAT NOT TO DO

Never wet mop the wooden floor. Water can dull a surface, damage wood, and leave a colorless residue.

Do not expose the floor to direct sunlight for long periods of time as this can dry out / fade the natural wood.

Do not put porous pots or vases on the floor. Do not use plain ammonia, alkaline products or abrasive cleaners.

Do not use "all-purpose" cleaners on your wooden floors, as they tend to leave a dull residue and are used with a lot of water.

Do not rely on water alone or a solution of vinegar and water to clean your wooden floors. Mopping with water results in filthy-looking floors. Vinegar and water are not as effective as soapy water and can dull floors sooner. If necessary, spray again with oil. After 4-5 hours (at 18 – 20 degrees Celsius) the ground can be used again. After 24 hours, the floor can be cleaned with soap.
